旅日記②イギリス / Travel Diary②

さて今日はロンドン市内について書いていきたいと思います。一番最初にたどり着いたのがロンドンで一番大きい駅、ウォータールー駅です。ロンドンで一番大きいと行っても乗降人数は世界で９１番目であります。ちなみに世界１〜１５位くらいまでは新宿駅を筆頭に関東の駅がランクインいしています。いかに日本人が電車を使っているかがわかりますね。ロンドン市内に着くとまず真っ先に向かったのがビックベンです。この時計台は１３年の歳月をかけて１８５９年に完成しました。

Today, I want to write about London city. The first place I visit was Waterloo station where it is the biggest station in England. This station is the 91st largest in the world. Stations nearby Tokyo  in Japan are ranked in the top 15 largest stations in the world. It means that Japanese people use trains many times in their life.

At first, I visited Big Ben after arriving in London. It was awesome. Big Ben was built in 1859 and it took 13 years to build.

次に向かったのがバッキンガム宮殿です。１７０３年に建設され、今でも王室に使われています。今でも王室に使われている歴史的建造物は世界的にも稀です。

Next, I visited Buckingham Palace. It was built in 1703 and is still used by Royalty. The palace where it is still used by Royalty is very rare in the world.

次に訪れたのは国会議事堂です。前の国会議事堂は第二次世界大戦でナチスによって空爆され、今の国会は第二次世界大戦後に建て直されたものです。

And then I went to the Houses of Parliament. It was burned by Nazis in WWⅡ.  The Houses of parliament where I visited was rebuilt after WWⅡ.

大英博物館に行く途中に高級ブティック街オールドボンドストリートを通りました。フェラーリやロールス・ロイスが駐車してあり、興奮して思わずシャッターを切ってしまいました。

I passed through Old Bond Street on the way to the British Museum. I saw Ferrari and Rolls-Royce which was parked on the street. I could not help taking a picture in excitement.

そしてついに大英博物館に到着しました。大英博物館のすべての展示物に目を通すためには三日間必要と言われてるほど広大な博物館です。ですので、有名な展示物だけに目を通すようにしました。

I finally arrived at theBritish Museum . I heard that you need 3 days to see all exhibits in this museum , so I saw only famous exhibits.

僕の大英博物館に来た目的はロゼッタストーンを見るためでした。ロゼッタストーンとは１７９９年、ナポレオンがエジプト遠征に行った時に発見されたもので神聖文字、民衆文字、ギリシア文字の三種類の文字で書かれており、後のヒエログリフ解読に大きな貢献をしました。この石は世界史学習者にとってはかなり馴染み深いものではないでしょうか。

The reason why I visited this museum was that I want to see Rosetta Stone . The stone was found out by Napoleon in 1799.    He found  the stone on his way to Egypt. The stone was written in three languages (Sacred letter, Popular character, Greek letter) , so it helped researchers to decode the three languages. This stone is familiar with those who studied World History.

ということで今回はこれまでにし、次回は他の観光地も紹介したいと思います。
